Halle Berry breaks silence on ex-husband's shocking custody claims
Halle Berry has pushed back against her ex-husband’s allegations that she was violent toward their 13-year-old son Maceo, saying in court filings that she is herself a survivor of domestic violence. Last week, Olivier Martinez sought sole custody of their son. He alleged that Berry “physically abused” the boy during an incident on September 26, and claimed there had been “other instances of abuse” in recent years. Berry has not been barred from seeing her son, but her visitation has been temporarily restricted until a hearing on October 16. Her attorney, Marina Beck, strongly denied Martinez’s allegations, calling his filing “entirely meritless and deliberately misleading.” Meanwhile, on October 5, Berry filed a declaration obtained by People, in which she stated, “I have never physically, emotionally, or otherwise abused Maceo. I am a victim of domestic violence, and I help victims of domestic violence.” She added: “I am not a perpetrator of violence.
