(CNN) — Multiple tornadoes and intense storms hit the eastern half of the United States on Tuesday as a relentless severe weather pattern that left 28 people dead in recent days began to wind down.

Nine tornadoes touched down across eastern Iowa apart of Friday's severe storm system. A strong EF2 tornado was confirmed between Center Point and Alburnett in Linn County, with peak winds of 120 mph.
