Austin woke up to a rare sight Sunday morning after nearly a week of preparation for the season’s first winter storm.

An ice storm warning is in place for Knoxville and parts of East Tennessee.

Rates are expected to increase dramatically in the late afternoon and early evening, with up to 2 inches of snow an hour falling across the region.

The demonstrations are set for Saturday afternoon at two Central Austin locations - 38th Street and Lamar Boulevard and the corner of South Lamar and Ben White near Target - both scheduled from 1-2 p.
